About Us

The Communication, Cultural and Media Studies (CCMS) Research Group provides a focus for researchers working in media, culture and journalism whose research draws on a diverse range of theoretical and methodological perspectives.

In REF 2014, 65% of the faculty’s research in UoA D35 Music, Drama, Dance and Performing Arts (including media and cultural studies) was rated either internationally excellent (3*) or world-leading (4*).

As a team, we are collaborative, inter-disciplinary and engaged in sustained critical and creative analysis of media and cultural texts and processes on a diverse range of research projects. The group organises conferences and seminars that reflect our interests in journalism, television and cultural history.

The CCMS research group provides a space in which to showcase the work of research students and offers support to postgraduates through, for example, covering some conference attendance costs, doctoral completition awards and MRes studentships.
