Dr Ruth McElroy contributes to International Women's Day feature

Dr Ruth McElroy Dr Ruth McElroy has contributed an article to a feature on International Women’s Day.

More than twelve USW academics shared their thoughts on what International Women’s Day means to them.

The feature also serves to highlight some of the important research taking place at the University, in areas as diverse as genetics, human rights, governance and reproductive health.

“The cartoonist, Alison Bechdel, usefully created a succinct test for assessing whether a film (or TV show) offers a half-way fair representation of women. She offered three simple criteria: does the film have at least two named women? Do they speak to each other? Do they speak about something other than a man?
